Earth Day Celebration

Happy Earth Day (Monday) everyone!!!  Growing up on a farm, everyday is Earth Day at my house.  I am excited to share my love for planting trees, flowers, and vegetables with my little ones now.  Since the kids are old enough, Sunday's are nature walk day at local State Parks or even in our own woods.  It is so special to share our love of earth's creatures with our children and hopefully raise their awareness of the importance of keeping the world healthy and clean.

I have always tried to be eco-conscious in my crafting by not over buying, sharing destash items with other artists.  I even send my sterling silver clippings to fellow Etsy Artist The Lovely Smith...she makes gorgeous Pebble Rings from some of the scrap!  New Etsy shop Timber Woods Wares is the marvelous creator of my jewelry stands and displays...all made from recovered wood or old fence boards!  How eco friendly!

This year I have been able to pass my love of nature and recycling on to my small business thanks participation with The Artisan Group!  This Earth Day the team is gifting an amazing list of eco-conscious celebrities and goody bag full of  handmade artisan items created largely from recycled, repurposed, reused or otherwise "green" materials and processes.

This year's recipients will be Hayden Panettiere, Ginnifer Goodwin, Edward Norton, Adrian Grenier, Kate Bosworth, P!nk, Leonardo DiCaprio, Rachel McAdams, Emily VanCamp, Woody Harrelson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Daryl Hannah, Malin Akerman, Ted Danson, Orlando Bloom, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Hartnett, Sting, Barbra Streisand, Alicia Silverstone, Courteney Cox, Cameron Diaz, Sheryl Crow, Mark Ruffalo, and Natalie Portman!

I decided to gift handcrafted needle felted wool keepsake bowls from Sweet Pea Boutique.  Each bowl is made from 100% natural wool harvested in the US on an eco friendly family farm in Michigan.

These sweet little bowls would make lovely wedding or party favors, unique and useful.  They are the perfect place to set little keepsakes or rings.  Each bowl was gifted in a stamped muslin bag.  Please check out other handmade wool and needle felted items in my shop www.SweetPB.etsy.com

  1. Popping over from the blog team. Great post! I just bought some wool from an Etsy shop in NY and loved crocheting with it!

I also posted about eco-friendly crafting today.

  2. Also visiting from the Blog Team. I am ashamed to say that I forgot it was Earth Day until my daughter reminded me. Sigh! I have to say those are the cutest bowls I have ever seen. I am amazed at what talent people have on Etsy!
